As a Technical Product Manager on the Product Development team, you will be responsible for working closely with external clients and internal staff to define product needs and drive product direction for G2. You will be an integral part of our Product Engineering Team, solving some of G2’s most technically challenging and industry-relevant problems around merchant compliance management and e-commerce risk analysis. In this role, you will create products that leverage very large (multi-terabyte) datasets from disparate sources and provide coherent and impactful industry solutions for G2’s clients. In short, you will help to create the next generation of risk management tools for the financial services industry.

On a day-to-day basis, you will interface with almost every part of the company, including senior management, sales and marketing, software development, quality assurance, business operations, and G2’s clientele. Your challenge will be to research new business opportunities, gather comprehensive product requirements, and oversee product development from design to implementation through G2’s Agile scrum methodology. You will also help define product strategy, assist in creating roadmaps and backlogs, and communicate product functionality and key features to customers in person and through written documentation and demos. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for building new and innovative products and a proven track record of delivering them to market in a timely and professional manner.

Key Responsibilities:

• Define product needs and requirements through working closely with internal and external clients. Position may include some conference calls outside of normal business hours with international clients and possible travel to client locations.
• Design practical product deliverables based on input from all relevant stakeholders and constraints such as time to market, resources, and cost.
• Work closely with G2’s software development team to assess feasibility of various product approaches and develop or improve upon new product ideas.
• Communicate product requirements to development teams through user stories, technical specifications, storyboards, and workflow diagrams.
• Work with project management team to translate product requirements into digestible work packages that may span multiple development iterations.
• Facilitate ongoing communication among all stakeholders as products are in development, including answering questions and fleshing out additional requirements that arise during the G2 development process.
• Present product deliverables to customer upon project completion and garner feedback to create a customer-driven product backlog.
• Work with external vendors to help solve challenging business and technical problems that lead to new products and services.
• Research new business opportunities based on new Internet trends, emerging technologies, and changes in G2’s core market.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 3+ years work experience in a product management position at a software development or Internet services company.
• Minimum 1+ years working with an Agile-driven software development team.
• High energy individual with excellent verbal and written communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Demonstrated passion for data analysis, strong experience interacting with databases, and proficiency using analytic tools to answer business and product-facing questions.
• Self-starter who can use the resources and people available to lead progress on product-related initiatives.
• Insatiable desire to solve problems and demonstrated work ethic to bring solutions to marketplace under aggressive deadlines and tight constraints.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, or a similar area of study.
• Demonstrated experience with and/or an advanced understanding of the Internet and the development of Web applications.
• Experience anticipating problems and initiating corrective action.
• Ability to handle several areas of focus, learn quickly, and work collaboratively with the team or individually depending on the task.

Additional Skills Desired:

• Product management training or certifications.
• Domain knowledge of the E-commerce space and/or demonstrated experience in risk and compliance in the financial services industry.
• Business development experience at a technical company, assessing new market opportunities and investigate new products and services.
• Previous experience with Open Source Software Development (PHP, Java, Python, Perl) [Note: This is not a software development position].
• Working knowledge of relational databases, SQL, NoSQL solutions, and Search/ Crawling technologies (e.g. Solr, Lucene, Nutch, Hadoop, Map-Reduce, HBase).
• Exposure to product management tools (e.g. Visio, OmniGraffle), issue tracking tools (e.g. JIRA, Greenhopper, Confluence), or version control tools (Git).
